A long strip of powder-fine sand beneath the shifting shade of postcard-perfect palms, Michamvi Pingwe is as pristine a tropical beach as they come. And, best of all, it remains pretty much untouched by tourism.
We might call it a ‘genuine’, or ‘authentic’ Swahili fishing community but to us it’s just home, a small fishing village with a long sandbank crescent stretched out ahead at low tide.
The beach is special, recently good enough for Vogue UK, but with only two restaurants available, one of thatched beach chic, the other atop a Rock , we can’t say its lively: Just very friendly and very easy.
The high tide laps the garden wall, receding to reveal rock pools and an azure lagoon,
Dar is most definitively a beach house.
Life can be a real beach....
